Mrs. Aldridge
Hi! My name is Mrs. Katie Aldridge and I am so excited to be a part of the Walker First Grade Team. More importantly, I am THRILLED to be your teacher. It’s going to be a fun year full of lots of learning and new adventures and I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us. I want to know ALL about you, but first I’m going to tell you a few things about me. I grew up in a small town Northeast of McKinney named Bonham. When I graduated from Bonham High School I attended Texas A&M University-Commerce receiving a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood. I was so excited to graduate and start teaching. I taught Kindergarten for 1 year in Farmersville ISD and moved to McKinney in 2005 to teach Kindergarten. This will be my 15th year of teaching and I love teaching because it allows me to give YOU, my First Grade Friend, the best start to your academic career. I am married to my wonderful husband, John. We have two of the most adorable and crazy boys. My oldest son is Austin and he is 10. You will see a lot of Austin because he will be in 5th Grade! My youngest son is Aaron and he is 8. You will see a lot of Aaron too, because he will be in 3rd Grade. They are so much fun and keep us on our toes. We have one fabulous dog, Riley. He is a German Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix. He loves to go on walks, cuddle, and eat. I am so excited to be your teacher and for you to be a part of this AWESOME, all-star class!
Mrs. Garcia
Hi, my name is Ashley Garcia and cannot wait to get to know each and everyone of the First Graders this year. This will be my 9th year of teaching! I came to Walker Elementary three years ago and am so thankful for the opportunity to be a teacher at such an incredible school! I would love to share with you a little bit about me. I grew up in a small town called League City, which is exactly halfway between Houston and Galveston. Since I was a little girl I always knew I wanted to be a teacher and couldn’t imagine doing anything else as my career. I attended Texas State University in San Marcos where I received my degree in Early Childhood Education. From there, I was asked to come for an interview in Allen, Texas and at the time I had no idea where that exactly was but once I came I immediately fell in love with North Texas and decided this is where I wanted to call home. I am married to my wonderful husband, Victor Garcia. We have two incredible boys, Cameron who will be in 7th grade and Jessie who will be in 5th. We also have two precious dogs, Rascal Roo and Remy Sue. In our spare time, we enjoy watching sports, traveling, swimming in our pool and going out to eat. I am looking forward to a fantastic year and building an everlasting relationship with your children!
Mrs. Philbrick
Hi, my name is Jennifer Philbrick. I am so excited about this school year! This will be my 13th year at Walker teaching 1st Grade! After graduating from McKinney High School, I attended Tarleton State University. I graduated in 2005 and I always knew I would come home to McKinney to teach. I love teaching children! I couldn’t think of a better job out there. My husband Evin and I recently celebrated our 11th anniversary! We have three daughters, Kate, Sean and Brynn! Kate turned eight over the Summer and will be in 3rd grade at Walker this year. Sean is five years old and is starting Kindergarten this year. Our newest addition, Brynn is 7 months old. When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time at Possum Kingdom Lake with my family. My husband and I love to wakeboard and wakesurf anytime we get the chance! I’m looking forward to this school year and to building a relationship with your child!
Mrs. Shinn
Hi! My name is Erian Shinn and I am so excited to be teaching 1st grade this year! This will be my fourth year teaching at Walker but my first year in 1st grade. I spent the last 3 years teaching 2nd grade. I grew up and graduated high school here in McKinney and I love being back here as an adult. I graduated from Texas A&M in 2015. My husband, Cory, and I are both Aggies and we love to spend any free weekend in College Station watching Aggie sports. I also enjoy spending time at Lake Texoma fishing and water skiing. We love our sweet, spunky jack russell terrier named Sadie. This year I promise to love and care for your child. Your child will be respected, challenged, and nurtured in my classroom. I know this will be an amazing year and I look forward to getting to know your child this year!
